Being an international student can be a challenging experience.
You’re a long way from home, your family in a strange (but amazing) country on the other side of the world from the things that you know.
When you find out that school you are studying at is closing down, it can add even more stress and uncertainty to your situation.
This year already, we have seen a number of education providers closing or receiving notices to cancel their registration.
The good news for you is that the Australian government implemented program a few years ago to ensure the students who are going through this situation, don’t end up any worse off and can continue their studies in Australia.
And with this system in place, even though it still may be a bit of extra work, time and stress, the good news is that you can continue your studies in Australia.
The Temporary Protection Service (isn’t the FBI) is a system designed to help international students.
Temporary Protection Service (TPS)
The process on how it works is outlined below.
The Tuition Protection Service (TPS) is an initiative of the Australian Government to assist international students whose education providers are unable to fully deliver their course of study.
The TPS ensures that international students are able to either:
- complete their studies in another course or with another education provider or
- receive a refund of their unspent tuition fees.
