New Occupation Ceilings released for 2016/17

With the new skilled occupation list being release last month, many of our clients have also asked about the new occupation ceilings (or limit on places available) for each occupation.

Below is a table that outlines the new ceilings for next year 2016/17.
Notable changes
Accountants has risen from 2525 to 4777. While this is great news for accountants, there will still be strong competition as it’s still below the previous levels from 2013/14 and 2014/15.
Most Engineering occupations have dropped (only slightly) with Electrical Engineers one of the few to rise.
Registered nurses continue to rise up from 13,872 to 16,346 making it still the number 1 occupation in demand.
For trades the biggest occupation is Electricians at 9,345 followed by Carpenters (and Joiners) at 7,718.
