Thinking of Holidaying / Working in Australia?
As some of you know, it is possible for some people to come to Australia on a temporary visa which allows you work and have a holiday!
There are two types of work and holiday visas and they are available for passport holders from specific countries – depending on the visa.
If you are under 31, have a good immigration record and meet the relevant health and character criteria, you may be able to come and make the best of working and holidaying in Australia!
If you are from one of the following countries, you may be able to apply for a Working Holiday visa:
- Republic of Cyprus
- Hong Kong [SAR] China (including British National Overseas passport holders)
- Republic of Ireland
- Republic of Korea
- United Kingdom
If you are from one of the following countries, you may be able to apply for a Work and Holiday visa:
- China, People’s Republic of
- San Marino
- Slovak Republic
- United States of America
NOTE – please note that on 19 January 2017 a new Work and Holiday arrangement was signed with Ecuador as well.
The visas are very similar in terms of conditions and what you can do in Australia.
The main differences are that the 417 visa can be renewed for a further 12 months whereas the 462 visa cannot.
It is important to note that you are only eligible to apply for these visas once in your lifetime. So if you are under 31 and from one of these countries and want to make the most of the opportunity of working and travelling around Australia, this is your chance!
