1. Go for a swim at South Bank
Brisbane has its own little beach, right next to the city across the Brisbane River on the south side of the city.
Go for a free swim, catch some sun under the palm trees and enjoy the view. It is totally free!! But do not forget your sunscreen specially during summer.
2. Avoid paying for public transport
Public transport can be expensive sometimes, get up and feel active. Enjoy Brisbane’s free transport like the City Hopper, catch the ferry and go for a ride along the river, stop at New Farm Park and go for a walk. Also, catch the City Loop Bus and enjoy the aircon while seeing new things.
3. Try new free activities
Brisbane City offers plenty of free activities for everyone, visit the Gallery of Modern Art, head to the Brisbane Museum, or go for a walk in Queen Street Mall where you can always find shows and live music.
4. Visit Roma Street Parklands
Locals love the Parklands and it’s not hard to see why. It is one of the city’s most popular parks, walk and explore the different scenes it has. Also, enjoy the free BBQ areas but do not forget to clean after you use it.
5. Interact with nature
It costs nothing, and it fills up your heart and mind. Australia has amazing landscapes and beautiful nature! Head to Mt Coot-tha and check out the lookout and the Botanic Gardens, if you don’t want to venture that far, Kangaroo Point Cliffs or City Botanic Gardens always welcome you, both within walking distance from the city.
6. Don’t eat out
Eating out can result really expensive at the end, but not eating out doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy your food. Make a plan with your friends and cook at home easy and quick meals like nachos, pasta or even pizza, enjoy a movie with them or a simple chat.
7. Ride to the top of City Hall’s clock tower
Built between 1920 and 1930, the City Hall’s clock tower offers free tours up the tower, it runs every 15 minutes during opening hours. Head up and enjoy the view over King George Square.
8. Run along the riverside
New year, new me. Get fitness this 2019 and go for a run/walk along the riverside, enjoy the views of kangaroo point and the city at any time, especially during the sunset. If you are a morning person don’t think it twice, enjoy the sunrise in the early morning.
9. Learn about Brisbane
Take a tour of Parliament House, built in 1968, this place exposes gold leaf decoration and a beautiful grand staircase. Learn and interact with others about this city.

Queensland University of Technology welcomes everyone to their interactive Cube, which was designed to inspire the new generation of thinkers and it is a fun way to learn and encourage others.
